Raichur: A man was washed away in the flash floods in Sindhanur taluk of Raichur district on Friday.

Official sources said that Huligeppa Hallimath (55) of Deshnur village in Sirguppa of Bellary taluk was washed away while he was crossing an overflowing naala near Kerngal Camp in Sindhanur taluk. His body was recovered by a group of people.

Two persons from Kadaragaddi village of Lingsugur taluk were reported missing along with their country boat on Friday.

According to reports received here, the district administration received a message that Subhashchandra (35) and Bassappa (12) of Kadaragaddi village, who went to bring ration from Yergodi village, did not return home. They went to Yergodi village after crossing the Krishna which is in spate.

The incident came to light when Assistant Commissioner of Lingsugur G. Govinda, along with Tahsildar Siddalingappa, visited Kadaragaddi village to review the flood situation. A team of policemen along with some people of the village had launched a search for the missing persons.

Gopalpura, Madargol and Anjala in Deodurga taluk and Dongarampura, Atkur and Buradipad villages in Raichur taluk remain affected as the Krishna is in spate.

Though the quantum of water being released into the river was reduced from 2.56 lakh cusecs to 2.21 lakh cusecs on Saturday, there was no change in the flood situation. Yergod and Kadaragadda villages had been cut off from the rest of the district, sources said. Traffic between Raichur and Gulbarga, which was cut off as the river was flowing above a bridge near Huvinahedgi village in Deodurga taluk till Friday, resumed on Saturday.

Meanwhile, there was no change in the flood situation in the villages on the banks of the Tungabhadra in Sindhanur and Manvi taluks though the quantum of water being released from the Tungabhadra reservoir was reduced from 2.66 lakh cusecs to 1.90 lakh cusecs on Saturday.

The sources said that several villages along the banks of the Tungabhadra in Gangavathi taluk of Koppal district, including Verupapuragaddi, Kariyemmanagaddi and Nagangadda, had been experiencing heavy floods. Traffic between Munirabad and Gangavathi via Anegondi had been disrupted for the past three days as a stretch of the road between Virupapura and Anjanadri Hill near Anegundi had been submerged. Crops in Munirabd, Hulgi, Shivapur and Sanapur had been washed away in the flash flood, the sources said.
