MOM still ‘sick’

Special Correspondent

BHADRAVATI: New chairman of the Mysore Paper Mills (MPM) Suresh Gowda said here on Saturday it was unfortunate that the Government undertaking (MPM) continued to be sick even after a heavy investment of Rs.478 crore was made on it.

Mr. Gowda, who visited the plant for the first time after assuming office, was talking to newspersons.

He said that a proposal had been sent to the Government to release the grant of Rs.90 crore to tide over the immediate problems of the plant and put it on the path of recovery.

Positive response

He said Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and Minister for Major Industries Katta Subramanya had responded positively to the proposal.

He made it clear that the arrears to the farmers who had supplied the sugarcane to the sugar unit of the MPM had been cleared.

Committed

He said that the Government was committed to the growth of the MPM and assured that he would not tolerate any irregularity in the management of the plant.
