MLA satisfied with projects' progress

CHIKMAGALUR: C.T. Ravi, MLA, has said that developmental projects costing over Rs. 100 crore have been carried out in the Chikmagalur Legislative Assembly constituency during his tenure of nearly three years.

Mr. Ravi, who inspected several ongoing projects, told presspersons here on Wednesday that development work costing Rs. 4.78 crore was being carried out within Chikmagalur municipal limits.

Further, Rs. 1.37 crore had been released for new projects, he said.

He said Rs. 73 lakh had been sanctioned under the flood relief scheme and Rs. 92 lakh under the SFC scheme for road repairs.

Work on the Rs. 3.64-crore project to develop the Kote tank would be taken up next month, he added. With regard to housing schemes, he said the Ashraya committee had decided to distribute about 900 sites and 150 houses to beneficiaries under the scheme. It had also decided to give ownership certificates to slum dwellers, he added.

Mr. Ravi said that the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation would construct 2,000 houses.
