Liquor worth Rs. 5 lakh seized

CHIKMAGALUR: The police raided a farmhouse in Niduvalli near Panchanahalli in Kadur taluk on Wednesday and seized 278 boxes containing 13,344 bottles of illicitly stored liquor worth about Rs. 5 lakh.

Manjunath Naik, owner of the farmhouse, has been arrested. In another incident, 419 whisky bottles worth about Rs. 30,000 were seized from the premises of Lakshman Poojari in Siddapura in Chikmagalur taluk.

Arrests

Two persons have been arrested in this connection. Cricket bats, wickets and tennis balls, which had the symbol of the Janata Dal (Secular) on them, worth about Rs. 1.2 lakh, have been recovered from a pit in a farm belonging to Rajanna in Honnavarike near Sakrepatna.

Cases have been registered against three persons in this regard.
