Licences of eight fertilizer dealers cancelled

Chitradurga: The Department of Agriculture has cancelled the licences of eight fertilizer dealers in Chitradurga taluk following allegations that they were selling fertilizers at a price higher than fixed by the Government, said agriculture officer Narayana.

Mr. Narayana said this at the taluk panchayat general body meeting here on Tuesday.

He was replying to a query raised by member Mohanadas. The Department of Agriculture was vigilant and would take action against those dealers who sold fertilizers at a price higher than fixed by the Government.

The Government was distributing fertilizers, sprayer, and sunflower seeds to poor farmers at subsidised rate. Seveny-five per cent subsidy was being offered on sprayers, he added.

“The Raita Samparka Kendras are well-stocked and beneficiaries can go to respective kendras and collect fertilizers and seeds,” Mr. Narayana said. He clarified that no caste certificate was required to buy fertilizers at subsidized rates. Taluk panchayat president S.V. Nagarajappa chaired the meeting.
