BANGALORE: Continuing in the footsteps of the defunct Sahitigala Kalavidara Balaga and the Kannada Shakti Kendra, the Bangalore-based Kannada Geleyara Balaga on Saturday released a 24-page brochure containing a brief history of the Cauvery dispute and a summary of the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal. The brochure brought out by the Kannada Geleyara Balaga, "Cauvery: Kannadigara Hanebaraha" (Cauvery: Fate of Kannadigas), along with the Karmika Loka, a trade union body, has been compiled by irrigation statistician and balaga activist Ra. Nam. Chandrashekar and the labour union leader Srikantaiah.

Speaking on the importance of the brochure, the noted scholar and founder president of the Kannada Shakti Kendra, M. Chidanandamurthy, said that fighting for the State's rights in the Cauvery dispute had become imperative.

The balaga's brochure declares that every Kannadiga is a copyright holder. It is priced at Rs. 2 and is available at the balaga's office, No. 6, 2nd Cross, CKC Garden, Bangalore 560027 (phone 080 26794508).

Many noted writers and eminent persons such as G.S. Shivarudrappa, L.S. Seshagiri Rao, G. Venaktasubbiah, H.S. Doreswamy, Vijaya, Sumatindra Nadig, G.S. Siddalingaiah, H.S. Parvathi and Sa. Shi. Marulaiah have extended support to the ongoing agitation.
