Raichur: Members of the district youth wing of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike took out a procession and staged a dharna here on Saturday. They were protesting against the lathi-charge on vedike members in Bangalore recently.

The members, led by president of the district youth wing of the vedike led by Vinod Reddy, went in a procession and staged the dharna on the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Memorandum

They submitted a memorandum to A.M. Khateeb, Headquarters Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner.

In the memorandum, the members said that the Upparpet police led by Mudavi, police inspector, lathi-charged the activists while they were trying to blacken a Marathi hoarding of the Maharastra Bank in Gandhinagar in Bangalore.

Several activists were injured in the incident.

The members demanded the suspension of Mudavi and Sridhar Poojar, sub-inspector for resorting to lathi-charge unnecessarily. They said that they would intensify their agitation if their demand was not met immediately.
