MYSORE: Junior doctors at K.R. Hospital called off their strike on Tuesday night after the hospital administration assured them that their demands would be considered favourably.

They went on strike on Monday after a mob allegedly assaulted two of their colleagues following rumours that several children were taken ill after being administered polio drops.

Earlier on Tuesday, people struggled to avail of medical treatment as services at the hospital were paralysed. Barring emergencies, surgeries at the hospital were reportedly postponed due to the non-availability of junior doctors.

Senior doctors were on duty and attended to outpatients.

The striking doctors had established a parallel outpatient facility outside the hospital on humanitarian grounds. There were long queues outside the Out Patient Department (OPD) block. Those who could not stand in the queue were seen going to the junior doctors.
