Janata Dal (S) to organise padayatra on October 2

It will be flagged off at Basavakalyan

The Janata Dal (Secular) will organise a 700-km padayatra from Basavakalyan in Bidar district to Bangalore to raise awareness on the “failures” of the BJP Government in the State and UPA Government at the Centre.

It will be flagged off on October 2 in the presence of senior leaders of the party, including the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, State unit working president and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Announcing this here on Thursday, district unit president Ashok Pujari and senior leader Basavaraj Matagar said the party would complete the elections to its block and district-level committees by August 20.

Subsequently, an awareness campaign will be organised in the Assembly constituencies of Belgaum district from September 10. Mr. Kumaraswamy would spend two days in the district and participate in the campaign.

A padayatra would be taken out from Basvana Khilegaon in Athani taluk to Yellamma Gudda in Saundatti taluk, he said.

The date for the padayatra would be finalised soon, Mr. Pujari said.
