The Mahatma Gandhi Souhardha Vedike held a demonstration here on Wednesday to condemn the “foul language” Tourism Minister G. Janardhana Reddy used against senior Congress leader M.P. Prakash.

Leading the demonstrators, freedom fighter H.S. Doreswamy said the State Government was silent on political leaders and Ministers who were showing disrespect to democratic values.

‘Drop him'

Demanding that Mr. Reddy apologise to Mr. Prakash, the demonstrators demanded that Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa drop him from the Council of Ministers if he did not apologise.

Chandrashekar Patil, writer, said: “there is no value today for statesmen who think about the next generation, but there is a value for the corrupt and wealthy politicians who think only about the next election.”

Janata Dal too

The Janata Dal (U) also held a demonstration against both the ruling and the prominent Opposition parties in the State for their “failure” to protect the interests of common man and to urge the Centre to impose President's Rule in the State.

Party State unit president M.P Nadagouda said that both the BJP and the Congress were indulging in gimmicks by organising “padayatras” and “samaveshas.”
