Run bi-weekly Vasco-Yeshwanthpur train daily: committee

Davangere: The South Western Railways Zonal Passengers’ Welfare Committee urged the South Western Railways to introduce an intercity express train between Harihar and Bangalore to cater to the needs of a large number of passengers of Harihar, Davangere, Kadur, Birur, Arsikere and Tumkur.

Committee president M.S.K. Shastry, in a statement issued here on Saturday, said that the intercity train between Hubli and Bangalore is so crowded that there are times when passengers in Harihar, Davangere and many other stations cannot board the train also.

Every day the train is running to its full capacity. Keeping this in view, the authorities should introduce a new intercity train between Harihar and Bangalore, he said.

The bi-weekly Vasco-Yeshwanthpur train must be made a daily train.

Another demand

Work on the Harihar-Kottur railway line should be completed soon and trains should run on the line from August 15, 2009.

The committee demanded that survey of Bangalore,Tumkur, Chitradurga and Jagalur should be taken up.
