In-house teachers’ training programme from November 5

More than 200 science and mathematics teachers will be trained in new teaching techniques



GULBARGA: The Karnataka Science and Technology Academy has extended its successful training programme for teachers in high Schools, both government and private, on new teaching methodologies, to Bidar district where the SSLC pass percentage is very low.

Programme venue

Academy member and well-known medical teacher P.S. Shankar told The Hindu here on Saturday that the in-house training programme for teachers of the 8th, 9th and 10th standards would be held from November 5 to 22 at various schools in Bidar, Bhalki, Basavakalyan, Aurad and Humnabad taluks.

Dr. Shankar said the programme was jointly organised by the academy, the Department of Public Instruction, the Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) and P.S. Shankar Pratishthana.

Inter-personal relations

More than 200 science and mathematics teachers would be trained in new teaching methodologies and inter-personnel relations with the students. He said that expert teachers from Gulbarga University and reputed colleges and schools would be invited to the training programme as resource persons.

Prominent among those was the former Chairman of the Textbook Committee M.R. Nagaraj.

Similar programmes

Training would also be given to teachers in Marathi- and Urdu-medium schools.

In Gulbarga and other districts, similar programmes were conducted for Kannada-medium teachers.
