Hi-tech industrial township in Hassan

Hassan: Deputy Commissioner Naveen Raj Singh said here on Thursday that a hi-tech industrial township on the model of Shanghai will be developed on a 1000-acre land around Gendekatte, in the outskirts of Hassan.

He told presspersons that the plan would be ready in about two months. Ten industrialists and officers from the Department of Industries and Commerce (DIC) have returned after visiting China and Hong Kong and their experience would be utilised for this project, he said.

Mr. Singh said that in the proposed industrial township, school, hospital and housing complexes would be built. A 10-acre land will be earmarked for holding industrial exhibitions; 90 acres for housing; and 83 acres for information technology and bio-technology industries. IT and BT zones will be established jointly by the KSFC and the Mysore Sales International.

During the same press meet, Mr. Singh informed that there is a proposal to organise a conference of industrialists and investors during January or February 2009 in Hassan.

He also said that for four special economic zones to come up around Hassan, 2,604 acres of land has already been acquired. Of the land acquired, 614.17-acre land is earmarked for textiles; 270.07 acres for pharmaceuticals; 265.53 acres for agro-tech and food processing; and 250 acres for hardware zone.

DIC General Manager Nagaraj and office-bearers of the Industrialists’ Association were also present.
