Give moral education to children, says Acharya

Kaup (Udupi district): Medical Education Minister V.S. Acharya said on Saturday that moral education should be given to students to shape their character. He was speaking after inaugurating the "Children's meet", focusing on national integration, organised by the Department of Public Instruction, Udupi Zilla Panchayat and the Udupi district unit of Bharat Seva Dal, here.

Dr. Acharya said that it was essential to develop patriotism among the students. Teachers should be role models for students.

Children should be taught that hard work was essential to reach the goal in life. The importance of honesty, integrity, self-sacrifice should be told to the students, he said.

It was in schools that leadership qualities should be inculcated among the children. Students should be taught the importance of positive thinking, Dr. Acharya added.

Honorary secretary of the Children's meet committee K.P. Acharya welcomed the gathering. General secretary of the State unit of Bharat Seva Dal U.R. Sabhapathi read the report.
