Flag march held in Bellary

BELLARY: The police held a flag march in the Cowl Bazaar area here on Saturday as part of security measures to ensure free and fair civic election.

The city had been divided into three divisions and security measures would be looked after by a Deputy Superintendent of Police. Eight checkposts had been set up on the outskirts of the city to prevent movement of vehicles without valid permits. The police had prepared a list of anti-social elements and would take them into preventive custody depending on the situation, he said.

As many as 1,400 personnel, including 314 Home Guards and 100 forest guards will be on election duty.
