Fire destroys answer sheets

BANGALORE: Answer sheets relating to several undergraduate and postgraduate courses were destroyed in a fire accident on the second floor of the evaluation centre of Bangalore University on the Jnanabharathi campus here on Monday evening.

The police said that passers-by noticed the fire in the old building where the answer sheets are stored after the marks are declared.

The Fire and Emergency Services personnel were informed around 7 p.m. and it took three fire engines nearly an hour to douse the flames.

“This clearly looks like an act of miscreants. We are in the process of identifying them,” said M.S. Talwar, Registrar (Evaluation).

Among the answer papers that were burnt are those relating to BA, B.Sc and LL.M courses. The answer papers include those submitted for revaluation. “We are checking the records,” Mr. Talwar added.
