Bangalore: Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman and MLA C.T. Ravi on Friday said that the repair work of the cave shrine of Bababudangiri/ Datta Peetha in Chickmaglur district would start immediately, as the Supreme Court had vacated the stay granted to it.

Addressing presspersons, Mr. Ravi said that the apex court had ordered that the repair would have to be carried out in accordance with the directions of the Department of Archaeology of the State Government, without affecting the original shape of the cave shrine.

Welcoming the order, the BJP leader said that cave started crashing following heavy rain in August 2008 and the Department of Muzrai had sanctioned Rs. 5 crore for its repair.

Mr. Ravi said that Infrastructure and Tourism Minister G. Janardhan Reddy had assured sanction of Rs. 5 crore each in two instalments for developing infrastructure on the hills and added that the work may be completed in 2013.
