Congress rebuts BJP charge

Rebutting the allegations of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that the Congress used money earned from illegal mining for its padayatra, District Congress Committee president B.G. Govindappa said that the party did not use any ill-gotten money for the programme.

In a release here, he said that the DCC collected donations from party activists and office-bearers to arrange for the padayatra.

He accused the BJP of spreading rumours to disgrace the party. He stated that the BJP was rattled after the success of the padayatra, and it was thus making baseless allegations against the Congress.
