Chain-snatchers fired at, one injured

BANGALORE: A city police officer fired at two men who tried to escape after snatching gold chains near the Raggigudda Slum in J.P. Nagar.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South T.G. Krishna Bhatt, the two chain snatchers have been identified as Amarnath and Ravi. “Police Inspector S.K. Umesh tried to stop the two men,” said Mr. Bhatt. “The two tried to resist and to attack Inspector Umesh, which prompted him to fire at them,” he added. Mr. Umesh fired three rounds at the two men, hitting Amarnath on the knee while Ravi managed to escape.

Burgled

Burglars broke into a doctor’s house in Nagarabhavi 2nd Stage Sunday night and made away Rs. 3 lakh and 265 gm of gold and silver articles.

According to the Kamakshipalya police, Selvarajan, a doctor in the Magadi Family Care Centre, left his home in the morning to meet his friend. He returned at night to discover the burglary. The value of the missing items is estimated at Rs. 7 lakh.

Temple too

Thieves also made away with cash and other articles from the “hundi” of the Ganesha temple in 5th Block, Magadi Road, on Sunday night by breaking open the shrine’s ventilator. They opened the hundi using the key kept there. The value of the stolen property is not known.

The Magadi Road police have registered a case.
