Bus burning: three more arrested

BANGALORE: The J.P. Nagar police on Saturday arrested three more persons in connection with the attack on the residence of Selvi, daughter of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi.

According to the police, the arrested are Manjunath (30), Santosh (24), both residents of Sarakki, and Harish (32), a resident of Pantharpalya. Manjunath and Santosh are said to be involved in real estate business.

Judicial custody

Thirteen persons accused of setting a Tamil Nadu State Express Corporation bus on fire and attacking the residence of Ms. Selvi were remanded in judicial custody on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Soumendu Mukherjee said another victim who died in the bus burning incident was yet to be identified. On Friday, the police disclosed the names of 12 persons who allegedly set the bus on fire. Two of them along with another accused were alleged to have attacked the residence of Ms. Selvi.

‘It’s not right’

“I am keenly watching the developments in the bus burning and stone pelting cases,” the Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has said.

Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of the All-India Conference of the Lokayuktas, Lokpals and Upalokayuktas held here on Saturday, Mr. Kumaraswamy said whatever had happened was not right and efforts were being made to bring the culprits to the book.
