‘Nada Mantapa’ reverberates with music by 400 children

MYSORE: The aesthetically-built auditorium for music concerts “Nada Mantapa” at Avadhoota Datta Peetham in Ganapathi Sachchidananda Ashram here reverberated with soulful music on Monday.

For, over 400 schoolchildren from 23 districts in the State vied for top titles at the State-level music and bhajan (devotional songs) singing competition organised for the second successive year at the ashram to encourage children take interest in music, especially bhajans.

The children played music instruments and sang bhajans at the competition for the district-level competition had been organised in the respective districts and only the best competed in the State-level competition held in Mysore. After a day-long singing of bhajans, the winners were announced and prizes distributed to not just the State champions, but also to the district champions.

Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji presented the State Champions’ Trophy to students of Kumaran’s Children’s Home of Bangalore and runners-up trophy to the children of Canara High School of Mangalore.

The students of Maruthi Vidya Kendra of Tumkur won a consolation prize.

Twelve students from each district took part in the competition.
