Boost for lake

DAVANGERE: The district administration will develop the Kunduwada Lake at a cost of Rs. 1 crore soon.

Deputy Commissioner K. Amaranarayana, at a special meeting of officers and councillors of the Davangere City Corporation held on the lake bund here on Sunday, said a Bal Bhavan would be built at the spot while an overhead water tank and toilets would also be set up.

He said boating facility would be introduced at the lake and added that many other recreational sports would be given a fillip. Solar panels would be installed for lighting, at a cost of Rs. 30 lakh.

The Horticulture Department had been assigned the task of beautifying the area around the lake. When the issue of collecting fees from walkers at the lake was discussed, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Commissioner of the city corporation, Mayor Muniyamma Madaswamy and Deputy Mayor Jayanna, to hold a debate on the issue and elicit public opinion.
