Canara Bank opens ATM centre in Hubli Railway Station
HUBLI: Praveen Kumar, General Manager of South Western Railway (SWR), has said that ATM centres of the State Bank of India and other nationalised and scheduled banks will be set up in 89 locations across the SWR zone.
Speaking after inaugurating an ATM centre of Canara Bank at the Hubli railway station on Friday, Mr. Praveen Kumar said the Canara Bank’s ATM centre was the first to be set up under the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Ministry of Railways and various banks.
He said plans were afoot to use ATM centres for issuing railway tickets. Along with ATM centres, steps were being taken to provide better amenities at all stations in the zone, he added.
Rakesh Vatash, Divisional Railway Manager, Hubli, said 24 ATM centres would be set up in 12 railway stations in Hubli Division.
He said Canara Bank would set up ATM centres at Hubli, Belgaum, Bellary, Vasco-da-gama, Bijapur, Dharwad, Sanvordem Curchorem and Londa stations. Locations for these centres had been finalised and work had commenced in some stations, he added.
S.K. Behera, Chief Commercial Officer of SWR, and Federick Hosea, Deputy General Manager, Canara Bank, Hubli Circle, spoke. Senior railway officials S. Balakrishna, R. Baskaran and H. Sivaprasad were present. Goswamy, Manager of Canara Bank, proposed a vote of thanks.
