BSP condemns fuel price hike

The Udupi district unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has criticised the Union Government for increasing the prices of petroleum products.

In a press release issued here on Thursday, convener of the party's Udupi-Chikmagalur parliamentary constituency Steven John Menezes described the increase in the prices of petroleum products as an anti-people move by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government that would only benefit oil companies. Fuel price hike would adversely affect the small, medium and large industries, which were already reeling under the pressure of the global economic meltdown. It would also lead to an increase in unemployment.
