Udupi: President of the State unit of the BJP D.V. Sadananda Gowda on Saturday credited the organisational set up and work done by the B.S. Yeddyurappa Government in the past 10 months for the good performance of the party in the State.

He told The Hindu that the State unit had set up booth-level committees, which had helped the party. “These committees galvanised our cadre at the grassroots,” he said. Mr. Yeddyurappa had launched many popular programmes in the past 10 months of his administration. “These programmes have been appreciated by the people. These factors have contributed to our good show,” he said. The party hoped to win at least 21 seats. “But winning 19 seats is a significant achievement. We were hoping to win the Mysore and Chamarajanagar seats also. We lost Mysore by a narrow margin,” Mr. Gowda said.
