BJP worker dies during convention

He was listening to speeches

A 33-year-old BJP worker Mallappa Sharanappa Myageri from Yadgir district died at the second divisional-level BJP convention in Srinivas Saradgi village, 25 km from here on Thursday.

The incident

According to some eyewitness accounts, Mallappa Sharanappa Myageri collapsed suddenly at the pandal where BJP leaders were delivering speeches one after another. The people sitting near him gave him first aid before shifting him to Government General Hospital. However, the doctors there declared him brought dead.

Cause not known

Though the doctors suspected that Mallappa Sharanappa Myageri must have suffered cardiac arrest, only post-mortem report will confirm the cause of his death.

No mention of it

The BJP leaders on the dais, including Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, were not informed about the death of the BJP worker.

It became evident that the information was not given Mr. Yeddyurappa when, in his 45-minute speech, he did not even make a mention of the death of the BJP worker at the venue of the convention. Immediately after the meeting, he left for Bidar in a helicopter.
