BJP to pool funds for drought relief

BJP State president B.S. Yeddyurappa announced that the party would take up drought relief work in the State by pooling money from the allocated funds of elected representatives.

“The executive meet will resolve that parliamentarians from the party will contribute Rs. 1 crore from the funds allocated to them. MLAs and MLCs will give Rs. 25 lakh each from their funds,” he said, adding the party would also make attempts to involve religious mutts and industrialists.

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar claimed that the NDA government had released more funds than the UPA government for drought relief.
