Another security guard murdered

BANGALORE: For the second consecutive day, the city witnessed the murder of a security guard. Thimmegowda (70) was murdered near his workplace in BTM 1st Stage, 4th Cross on Tuesday morning, a day after an Assamese youth was killed at Byappanahalli by robbers who looted an electronics showroom.

The deceased was working for Ram Kumar, a doctor in BTM 1st Stage, and was staying in his employer’s outhouse. In the early hours of Tuesday, Dr. Ram Kumar heard screams and opened the door but found nothing. However, after a few hours he looked again, the Madiwala police said, and found the body.

The police suspect Thimmegowda’s son-in-law’s role in the murder.


Two children of a mason have been reported missing from Jeevanbimanagar from Sunday evening. Sampath Kumar’s children Raju (14) and Manikantan (11), who study in the Jeevanbimanagar Government School, did not return after classes.

Sampath Kumar and his wife Pachiyamma, a domestic help, have filed a complaint with the Jeevanbimanagar police.


The city police on Tuesday arrested a woman who allegedly posed as relative of Railways Minister Lalu Prasad and claimed to be a member of Railway Recruitment Board to cheat people.

The police said A. Prema (46), a resident of Kirloskar Colony in Basaveshwara Nagar, lured a number of Tamil and Malayalam speaking persons with jobs in Railways. She was collecting money, taking blank cheques as guarantee and signing agreements with applicants about giving their first salary to her. .

Yuvaraj alias Subramani, a resident of Magadi Road, filed a complaint against Prema. The Basaveshwara Nagar police arrested Prema and recovered Rs. 25.3 lakh allegedly taken from several people. .
