327 quarters for railway staff to be built in Hubli

HUBLI: General Manager of South Western Railway Praveen Kumar performed “bhoomi puja” and laid the foundation stone for staff quarters at Brook Road Colony on Gadag Road here on Wednesday.

A total of 327 quarters will be constructed for railway employees in the colony.

Briefing about the project, Divisional Railway Manager of Hubli Adesh Sharma said that the cost of the project was Rs. 24.38 crore and the deadline for completion of work was 12 months.

Mr. Sharma said that of the staff quarters, 87 units would be type 1, 172 units type 2, 20 units type 3 and 4 and 28 units type 5.

Of them, 48 quarters of type 4 and 5 would be meant for officers, he said. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Praveen Kumar said that with the completion of these quarters, the housing problem of the staff would be solved to an extent.

He directed the officials to ensure speedy completion of work without compromising on quality.

Senior railway officials Prem Chand, Ramesh Kambli, Braj Mohan, Sanjeev Handa, Nanveen Tandon, R.K. Aherwar, N. Swaminathan, S. Manohar, C. Thamotharan, and S.K. Gupta were present.
