Zee to launch Telugu channel

VIJAYAWADA, AUG. 14. Zee Turner, a distribution branch of Zee Telefilms and Turner International India Pvt. Ltd, plans to launch Alpha Telugu for viewers of the State.

With a view to provide an insight into the new channel, the Zee-Turner hosted a get-together in the city on Saturday to show glimpses of its programmes to cable operators of the five coastal districts of Krishna, Prakasam, Guntur, Khammam and West Godavari.

The Chief Operations Officer of Zee-Turner, Siddharth Jain, said the new channel would cater to the tastes of all sections by churning out news-based programmes, crime, health, religion, action, friction and lots more. He promised the viewers to ensure telecast of programmes that would be the right mix of entertainment, education and information.

Potential market

The Citi Cable chief of Andhra Pradesh unit, P. Sai Babu, said the Zee Network has been planning to tap the potential market of Andhra Pradesh for a long time. "With the kind of home work done by the channel, one can expect it to live up to the expectations of the viewers," he added.

The Zee Network has already made an entry into regional language channels under the brand name of `Alpha'.
