YSR's meet with Left parties on land reforms today

HYDERABAD, AUG. 1. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, will hold a meeting with leaders of the CPI (M) and the CPI here on Monday to discuss the issue of land reforms.

This will be the beginning of a series of consultations that Dr. Reddy proposes to have with representatives of political parties on the issue of distributing land to the landless. Almost all mainstream parties and naxalites have been demanding implementation of land reforms but in their own different ways.

The Chief Minister proposes to invite TDP and BJP leaders in the next round of consultations and later the TRS. He is also planning to seek inputs from the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) and individuals like S. R. Sankaran and B. N. Yugandhar, former IAS officers, who have studied the land problem in depth.
