YSR reviews drinking water position

HYDERABAD, MARCH 17. The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Thursday telephonically reviewed the supply of drinking water in towns with the officials of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department.

The Chief Minister spoke to the officials to enquire whether the supply of drinking water in all the municipal towns was being monitored regularly. He noted that some towns were facing scarcity of drinking water and asked if water was supplied through tankers on a day-to-day basis.

He directed officials to ensure that the weaker section habitations get regular supply of drinking water. He asked the MA & UD secretary, S. P. Singh, to hold videoconference once a week with officials of all municipalities.

Autonagar dumping yard

Dr. Reddy also enquired about the progress in stopping dumping of garbage in the Autonagar dumping yard near Hyderabad. He reiterated the Government's resolve to see that the habitations around Autonagar were protected from petrified smell. He instructed the officials to fence the boundary line of the dump yard to prevent encroachments.
