Young Indians to open chapter for Chittoor soon

TIRUPATI: Young Indians (Yi), a unit of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) working for the cause of involving youth in nation- building, will be opening a chapter for Chittoor district soon.

The chapterto be headquartered at Tirupati, will be the Yi's first centre outside the major metropolitan cities and its launch is most likely to happen by August.

At a pre-launch roadshow here on Thursday, chairman of Yi, Narayan Sethuramon announced that starting with Tirupati, similar centres would be set up in second rung cities and urban centres like Madurai, Trichy, Kohima/Guwahati etc. to invite more participation in the programme.

The chairman of Yi National Rural Committee chair, Jayadev Galla, said that the broad concept was to channelise the inherent strength of the 40 crore plus youth in identified areas like education, environment, youth affairs etc. for the comprehensive development of the country.

The forum has `Yi Net', a network of schools with trained coordinators to drive home the message and involve students in the process.

`There are more than 1,500 well-motivated students from 25 schools across the country in our network. And the number is bound to swell', he noted.
