VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada region of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) suffered a loss of over Rs. 1 crore on the first two days of the indefinite strike of the employees' unions. This was because over 90 per cent of the buses in the region did not ply on Monday and Tuesday. Officials said that all employees, except depot managers and security staff, continued to participate in the strike.

The region's usual revenue per day was Rs. 55 lakhs to Rs. 60 lakhs, but the collections in the last two days hit the rock bottom. The revenue on Monday might be around Rs. 1 lakh and it would be a little more on Tuesday. With the skeletal services being run at present, it would not be possible to improve the revenues significantly during strike period, the official added.
