Vijaya Bank ATM inaugurated

GUNTUR: Vijaya Bank will open two more automated teller machines (ATMs) at Kakinada and Tirupati in the next two months and two new branches at Visakhapatnam and Kakinada, Regional Manger Sadananda Hegde has said.

After inaugurating the 157th ATM here on Wednesday, he told reporters that this was the sixth one in the region. The bank applied for opening three more branches (Tadepalligudem, Amalapuram and Palakollu) and eight ATMs for which the RBI approval was awaited, he added.

Priority lending

The region had disbursed Rs.206 crores under priority lending to the agriculture sector, of which Rs. 50 lakhs was for Rythu Mitra Groups of tenant farmers, he observed. It disbursed credit of Rs. 40 crores to tobacco farmers in the region with a reduced interest rate of 5.85 per cent.

Now, 48 per cent of the branches were covered under core banking with Internet connectivity and this would go up to 80 per cent by next year, he added. He called upon people to take advantage of the `V-Adalat' to settle bad debts. The bank was also offering health insurance policy in association with the National Insurance Company, he added.
