HYDERABAD: Poet Varavara Rao has quit the Virasam owning moral responsibility for the controversy created over his letters sent to the Maoist party leaders making certain allegations against the other two former emissaries of the Maoist party - balladeer Gadar and poet Kalyan Rao.

"I am resigning to the primary membership as well as the executive membership. I will not speak to the media or any other platform as a member of Virasam henceforth," Mr. Rao maintained in his letter, which was released by the police on Saturday.
