HYDERABAD: Have a heart to save a heart. Well this catchy slogan may well be the most read very soon.

For, Sania Mirza has shown a caring heart by joining other celebrities from the film world like Charmi, Shriya, Jagapathi Babu and Vishnuvardhan.

The tennis sensation will be the brand ambassador for Save A Child's Heart Foundation (SACH), which launched a project to treat children with heart ailments.

The tennis star will lend her popularity to raise funds for the foundation, which is authorised by the Government of India to receive donations from foreign donors too.

Sania says it is an honour to be associated with such project.

"Even if I save one child through this project, I think we will be doing a great service to the cause of humanity," she said after handing over SACH bands — each costing Rs. 25 — to the celebrities on the dais.

Band of hope

"Hopefully, there will be many more in India who will be wearing these bands soon to help the foundation treat the maximum of the one million children with heart ailments," she said.

Charmi said she felt it was a privilege and fortunate to be of some help to the needy. "We will not be found wanting in our support for this cause," she asserted.

Sangeeta Reddy of Apollo Hospitals and secretary of the foundation appreciated the gesture of Sania and film stars for lending a helping hand to the cause.

Organisers believe that 3,240 children waiting for surgery can look beyond despair and for a better future. Jagapathi Babu was spot on to remind that it was imperative to have a heart to save a heart.

Trauma of parents

"As a parent, I can very well imagine the trauma of those whose children are suffering from heart ailments ," he said.

The proceeds through the sale of SACH bands will go towards helping the children.
