A wide array of fish dishes including a food stall from the West Bengal State Fisheries Development Corporation, local star hotels, traditional fishermen and self-help groups will form part of a two-day food festival being organised at YMCA building complex on July 9 and 10.
As part of National Fish Farmers’ Day celebrations, National Fisheries Development Board is organising a national-level celebrations here. Awards will be presented to progressive farmers, entrepreneurs and groups for adopting innovative practices.
Special fish cuisine, traditional items, value added products, dry, frozen and ready-to-eat fish/prawn/crab varieties will be available at over 20 pagoda-type stalls.
NFDB Executive Directors Bimal Kinkar Chand and G. Rathinraj told reporters here on Saturday that the awards would be given in nine categories and five broad areas.
In the technical sessions, the awardees will share their achievements and best practices.
An exhibition showcasing the technological advances made and developments achieved in the fisheries sector in the country will be organised. It will remain open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
