TIRUMALA: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was today signed between the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and Doordarshan for production of a tele-serial on Lord Venkateswara.

The MoU was signed by TTD Executive Officer A. P. V. Narayana Sarma and Deputy Director General of Doordarshan Ashok Zail Khani, at Annamayya Bhavan, Tirumala.

Chief Executive Officer of Prasara Bharathi K. S. Sarma was also present.

Talking to mediapersons, Narayana Sarma said the total cost of the Hindi serial is Rs. 11.65 crores. Several nationalised banks have come forward to sponsor the entire share of investment. The serial will be of 365 episodes. The main intention behind the entire project is to reintroduce Lord Venkateswara to devotees in North India.

Efforts are on to rope in renowned artists, particularly devout celebrities like Amitabh

Bachchan, Rajinikanth and others. Sarma said that production of the serial would start in two to three months

To a question, Mr. Sarma said dubbing of the serial in other languages might also be taken up.
