Tribal girl's death in hospital triggers protest

KHAMMAM: The death of a tribal girl under treatment in the Government area hospital at Bhadrachalam triggered student protest on Monday. Led by the Adivasi Vidyarthi Samkshema Parishad and the SFI, activists staged a demonstration in front of the hospital along with the body till late in the evening calling for the intervention of the police. The police had a tough time restoring normalcy

Vajja Sindhuja, 11, of a tribal residential school in Bhadrachalam, who had been ailing for some time, was admitted to the area hospital in the morning. The girl breathed her last in the hospital around 6 p.m. Relatives attributed the death to the negligence of the doctors.

Students' organisations joined them in the protest demanded action against those responsible for the death.

Students took out a protest rally in the temple town and presented a memorandum to officials seeking an enquiry into the circumstances leading to the death.
