Tirumala decked up for Brahmotsavam

TIRUMALA OCT. 5. The sacred hill temple of Lord Venkateswara, Tirumala, is all set for the nine-day annual Brahmotsavam, slated to commence with "Dwhajarohanam'' on Monday.

The TTD management has made elaborate arrangements to meet the requirements of pilgrims whose numbers shall be at its zenith, during the annual fete.

Dispensing with the advance reservation system of cottages and seva tickets, the visiting pilgrims shall be served on first-come-first-serve basis. Every pilgrim shall be fed under the Nitya annadanam scheme at least once in a day, where at present 20,000 pilgrims are being fed at free of cost every day. A buffer stock of over two lakh laddus will be maintained on all days during the festival period so as to meet the demand for the famous prasadam. Apart from setting up information centres at various vital points, mobile clinics shall also be pressed into service for the benefit of pilgrims.

Apart from all these arrangements, to cater to the needs of the devotees, more emphasis was also laid on decorating the entire temple town. "Sapthadwaralu'' are being erected all along four mada streets through which the daily procession of the deity is to pass by.

The entire temple complex, including the holy temple tank and various premier guesthouses are colourfully illuminated to suit the occasion. Giant size illuminatory cutouts, depicting various images of Lord Maha Vishnu and goddess Padmavati are being put up at different focal points.

B.T. roads are being re-laid and pavements, footpaths being painted.
