Tight security for Chief Minister's tour

Collector reviews arrangements with officials for the two-day visit

KAKINADA: The security arrangements for the two-day visit of the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in East Godavari district commencing on August 22 were reviewed at a high-level meeting held at the Collectorate here on Friday.

The Collector Anil Kumar Singhal asked the officials to ensure foolproof arrangements for the Chief Minister's visit including providing of barricades, shelters and drinking water facility at the venue of the public meetings in Mandapet, Peddapuram and Tuni municipalities.

Mr. Anil Kumar instructed the radio engineer to arrange public address system at important road junctions where the Chief Minister would address the public.

Since the Peddapuram Nagara Bata programme is going to be held during evening, he asked the officials to provide lighting all along the route, besides uninterrupted power supply at the venue of the public meetings.

He advised the RTC officials to arrange two special buses at Mandapet and Samalkot towns on the first day of the visit and at Kakinada and Tuni towns on the second day.

After lunch at Ramachandrapuram, he said the Chief Minister would reach Samalkot by helicopter and the elected peoples representatives would proceed in the special buses to participate in Dr. Reddy's tour programme.

He said the people's representatives would have lunch in the buses itself and except the confirmed halts, no other halts would be permitted.

The SP, Naveen Chand, said that security arrangements were beefed up and officials and media men have to obtain passes from the police much in advance.

Mr. Naveen Chand advised those senior citizens participating in the `Face-to-face' meeting with the Chief Minister should not bring any bags or luggage with them.
