VIJAYAWADA: Three members of a family died in two separate road accidents on the outskirts of the city late on Saturday night.

While two youngsters died on the spot when a bus hit their bicycle, their uncle, who was on his way to the hospital after coming to know of the incident, died in another road accident.

A pall of gloom descended on Neppalli village near Kankipadu, to which all the three belonged.

The Vuyyuru rural police said that Kolusu Dana Kishore (22) and his nephew Loya Subrahmanyam (22), residents of Neppalli village and working as masons, were on their way to home from Vuyyuru on a bicycle.

Near Peda Ogirala, a city-bound private bus from Machilipatnam hit the bicycle.

Friends inform family

Some friends of Kishore who were on their way to Neppalli, found the duo in a pool of blood and admitted them to a private hospital, where the doctors declared Kishore and Subrahmanyam dead. The friends informed the matter to Kolusu Vara Prasad, father of Kishore over telephone. Vara Prasad, along with his younger brother Srinivasa Rao (35), set out on a journey to the hospital in autorickshaw.

An auto trolley, coming in the opposite direction, hit the autorickshaw they were travelling in near Podduturu village. Srinivasa Rao sustained severe injuries, while Vara Prasad escaped with minor injuries.

The latter admitted his brother to Government General Hospital in the city.

Srinivasa Rao succumbed to injuries on Sunday morning.
