Third encounter victim identified

GUNTUR NOV. 13. The police, on Wednesday, identified the third person, who was killed in the Chandrajupalem encounter as Rachamallu Venkateswarlu alias Venkanna, an activist of the All-India People's Resistance Forum (AIPRF). Police, however, said here that they did not have any specific details of the cases in which Venkateswarlu was involved.

The bodies would be shifted to Guntur for post-mortem after the Revenue Divisional Officer of Guntur completed the inquest.

The Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee had come up with a statement last night itself that the third person who was killed in the "encounter'' was Venkateswarlu.

Alleging that it was a fake encounter, the State vice-president of the APCLC, P. Raja Rao, said the police picked up Eswar alias Madhav, Adi Reddy and Venkateswarlu from Benz Circle in Vijayawada around 4 pm on Tuesday.

A few policemen in plainclothes came in a vehicle and picked up the trio when they alighted from an auto-rickshaw. They said Venkateswarlu was an auto-rickshaw driver and that he never had any connections with the People's War and its activists.
