TDP Rajya Sabha member T.G. Venkatesh on Wednesday expressed displeasure at IT Minister N. Lokesh naming candidates for the Kurnool Lok Sabha and Assembly seats.

Mr. Lokesh had named incumbent leaders Butta Renuka and S.V. Mohan Reddy for the MP and MLA seats at a meeting here recently.

Addressing the media after the launch of ‘Anna Canteen’ here, Mr. Venkatesh said such announcements would be made only with the knowledge of party supremo and Chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

“I will take a decision after getting a clarification from Mr. Naidu,” he said.

Mr. Venkatesh said that Mr. Lokesh might have been hypnotised by Mr. Mohan Reddy. Meanwhile, Mr. Venkatesh’s supporters maintained they would go by the decision of their leader.

They objected to announcing the names of Ms. Renuka and Mr. Mohan Reddy as both were “fresh candidates from the YSRCP.”

‘No differences’

Reacting to the criticism, Mr. Mohan Reddy said Mr. Lokesh’s words would prevail as he knew the political situation in Kurnool.

Interestingly, Mr. Mohan Reddy said he had no differences with Mr. Venkatesh or Ms. Renuka.
