Telugu Desam will oppose Soren's re-induction: Naidu

NEW DELHI, NOV. 29. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today said that it would protest against the re-induction of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader, Shibu Soren, into the Manmohan Singh Cabinet. However, it did not favour indefinite stalling of Parliament on the issue.

Accusing the United Progressive Alliance Government of "encouraging corrupt and tainted" people, the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, said the party was unable to understand "the hurry" to re-induct Mr. Soren."There will be no compromise but we are not for indefinite stalling of Parliament on this count. We will fight it out and carry our protest outside," Mr. Naidu told presspersons after presiding over a meeting of the Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party here.

The party would also take up the increase in prices of petroleum products, rising inflation, "politicisation" of appointments to gubernatorial posts by the Congress, besides raising the issue of "absence" of drought relief work in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Naidu said the party would continue issue-based support to the National Democratic Alliance and ruled out any dilution of the TDP's ideological commitment to secular values. The stress at today's meeting was on floor coordination.

Objecting to the appointment of political leaders such as Sushil Kumar Shinde and S.M. Krishna as Governors, he accused the Congress of "burying" the recommendations of the Sarkaria Commission.

Mr. Naidu also criticised the Congress move to revive the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council. The State Government.

The TDP Parliamentary Party leader, K. Yerran Naidu, was also present.
