Say they will not tolerate anti-Telangana attitude anymore

WARANGAL: Teachers, students and activists of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and its frontal organisations took out a rally in Kakatiya University protesting against the incidents that took place in Osmania University (OU) on March 15.

The OU police disrupted 'Kolatam', a cultural programme organised by the Telangana Writers Forum on the university campus; behaved rudely with students and professors and arrested some of them while they were celebrating Holi.

Slogan raised

To express their resentment, teachers and students boycotted classes. Members of Telangana Graduates Association (TGA), academics and intellectuals of the region raised slogans against the 'attitude' of the policemen and took strong exception to their behaviour.

The rallyists shouted 'Andhra police go back' and 'Kabadar Andhra police'.

Senior faculty members - K. Venkatanarayana, N. Lingamurthy, TGA president M. Yadava Reddy and several others addressed the gathering. They tried to explain how the Telangana movement was being sidelined and how Telangana employees are being discriminated by 'Andhra rulers'. "We will not tolerate anti-Telangana attitude anymore. We will continue to fight the discrimination.

The increased momentum for implementation of GO 610 has irked some of the non-Telangana employees and they are out to sabotage the unity of Telangana employees and youth," Mr. Venkatanarayana said.

Earlier, during the rally - from the university first gate to second gate, they warned the State Government and non-Telangana employees against discrimination

Adilabad: Telangana Jagarana Sena (TJS), Adilabad unit, demanded action against the police officers. TJS district commander R. Ramesh told reporters here that the Sena would not tolerate any action against the interests of the region. He also demanded immediate implementation of GO 610.

Sangareddy: Protesting against the incident, TRS and TRSV activists organised a rasta-roko at Ambedkar Centre in Medak town.

Constituency in-charge M. Anjaneyulu, Municipal Vice-Chairman Mallikharjun and town TRS president Kishan participated in the dharna.

Karimnagar: Meanwhile, APSRTC Chairman Gone Prakash Rao has condemned the incident.

Addressing a press conference here, he termed the incident as 'unfortunate' . He alleged that the TDP and the TRS are making it an issue.
