TDP flays YSR for pulling up officials

`Government launching only election-oriented programmes'

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Legislature Party (TDLP) has taken exception to the way Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy had admonished irrigation engineers publicly while reviewing the works at Velugonda project in Prakasam district on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference, the TDP legislators,--E. Dayakar Rao, Sujatha and Sridevi--drew a parallel with the incident in Warangal where prominent party leaders were chased and arrested just on charges of abusing the district Collector. All that the TDP legislators wanted was that the Collector show respect to senior legislators.

There cannot be two different rules, one for the Chief Minister and the other for the Opposition, they said and demanded similar action. There was no need for any complaint and the Government could take suo motu action.

The TDP would explore the possibility of filing a private complaint.

Desam's charge

At a separate press conference, Ravula Chandrasekhara Reddy charged the Government with launching only election- oriented programmes and forgetting them as soon as the elections were over.

The Congress Government had promised free power supply without any restriction to all farmers but it stands diluted now. Similar was the fate of several programmes announced for urban development before Municipal elections.
