HYDERABAD: Depressed over not getting a ticket to watch his favourite actor Chiranjeevi's new film `Jai Chiranjeeva', a fan attempted suicide by consuming pesticide near RTC crossroads late on Wednesday night.

Chandrakanth (20), working in a hair saloon at Jagadgirigutta, was found lying unconscious near a bus stop at RTC crossroads after Wednesday midnight. Sub-inspector Sudarshan, who was on night patrolling duty, grew suspicious after finding a pesticide bottle beside the youngster and rushed him to Gandhi hospital.

Note recovered

Later, the police recovered a note purportedly written by Chandrakanth from his wallet. It stated that he tried in vain from Wednesday morning to night to secure a ticket. "I was ready to pay Rs. 200 for a ticket but could not get one," he wrote in the note.

Chandrakanth maintained that he had no family to share his feelings and was big Chiranjeevi fan. "The helplessness to secure a ticket pained me a lot and hence I wanted to kill myself," the note said.

Chandrakanth was initially admitted to the Acute Medical Care ward and shifted to general ward by 6 a.m. on Wednesday. However, he disappeared from the ward when the police went there to find out his condition two hours later. The hospital authorities entered in their records that the patient had `left against medical advice'.

"We informed about Chandrakanth's condition to the hair saloon owner," the police said.
