ANANTAPUR, MARCH 17. The district unit of Telugu Desam Party staged a dharna in front of the RDO's office here on Thursday demanding naming of the domestic terminal in the proposed Shamshabad International Airport after their party founder, N.T. Rama Rao.

Party leaders -- U. Hanumantharaya Chowdary, K. Srinivasulu, K.M. Saifullah, A. Narasa Naidu and Y. Subrahmanyam -- and others stated that the previous TDP Government had toiled for realising the project and it would be most appropriate to name the domestic terminal after NTR.

They warned that a phased agitation would be launched to protect the Telugu pride, if the State Government failed to uphold the Telugu self-esteem.

KURNOOL: TDP supporters, led by the former Minister, K.E. Prabhakar, S.V. Mohan Reddy, Somisetty Venkateswarlu and Bangi Ananthaiah, staged a demonstration at the NTR statue near Collectorate on the airport issue.

Earlier, the TDP activists took out a rally from Visweswaraya circle.

The leaders criticised the Government for naming the Shamshabad airport after Rajiv Gandhi while the name of NTR for domestic terminal was dropped.

They said the Congress was out to destroy everthing that gave birth during the Telugu Desam rule and wanted the Congress leaders to know that people would be seriously hurt by the decisions .
